Berkeley County, S.C. (WCIV) — Palmetto Railways will hold a public information open house in Berkeley County to review information gathered to date related to the Camp Hall Rail project, including rail alignment alternatives that have been considered, as well as the preferred alignment.

Palmetto Railways is requesting regulatory approval to build and operate an industrial rail line between Santee Cooper's Cross Generating Station and the Camp Hall Commerce Park in Berkeley County. The proposed rail line will service the Camp Hall Commerce Park, and it's anchor tenant, Volvo Cars.

The public is encouraged to attend the information open house from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Cross High School gym on Tuesday, July 11.

People who are unable to attend the open house in person can view the online meeting by visiting www.CampHallRail.com.

"Since our initial community meeting last year, we have been working diligently with federal agencies, regional stakeholders, agencies, and members of the community to identify the best possible rail routes with the least impacts on the community and environment, and we are looking forward to sharing our findings with the public," said Jeff McWhorter, Palmetto Railways President and CEO.
